Robert ‘Bobby’ Carragher stabbed to death by Kristen Scully Massapequa woman in hookup gone wrong after suspect becoming angry and taking out pocket knife while victim was asleep at family basement.
A 22-year-old Massapequa woman has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of a 28-year-old man she is alleged to have stabbed in what prosecutors described as a ‘hookup gone wrong.’
Kristen Sculley, 22, allegedly snuck into the victim’s Massapequa, Long Island basement apartment in the middle of Sunday night for a pre-arranged liaison before stabbing the victim to death in his own bed according to the Nassau County Police Department.
When officers arrived at the residence just at 1:30 a.m. Monday, they found the 28-year-old victim unconscious with a stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police medic, according to detectives.
Victim had fallen asleep when Massapequa woman became angry and took out pocket knife
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Scully hiding in the house with a pocketknife on her. A subsequent investigation led to Sculley’s arrest, the dailyvoice reported.
‘We believe that this female individual made an arrangement,’ Nassau County Police Detective Lt. George Darienzo told reporters. ‘She an acquaintance of our victim, who made an arrangement to get together that evening.
‘The location of the stabbing is initially believed to be in the bedroom at that location,’ Darienzo said. ‘The individual died in his father’s arms. No family should ever have to bear witness to the sudden killing of their son.’
The pair had been in the victim’s basement room for several hours before the victim falling asleep only at some point to be stabbed in the neck.
Cops said Sculley allegedly ‘became angry’ during the ‘liaison’ and stabbed the victim with a pocket knife, ABC7NY reported.
The two had ‘a friendship’ and knew each other ‘for several years,’ the detective said.
Victim had no criminal history or any known history of violence
Police believe the stabbing occurred suddenly and without warning. Cops said the victim managed to get to his parents upstairs before mortally succumbing to his wounds.
‘He climbed the stairs to seek the assistance of his mother, screaming,’ Darienzo said. ‘His mother and father came to his aid. They attempted to control that bleeding in the kitchen. At that point their son became unresponsive.’
The son is reported to have died in his father’s arms on the kitchen floor.
Emotional distress or substance-related impairment
Cops said there was evidence that the two had been doing drugs, but none where found.
Friends identified the victim as Robert ‘Bobby’ Carragher, a 28-year-old Massapequa resident who was described by those who knew him as friendly, outgoing, and well-liked in his community. Authorities confirmed he had no criminal record and was considered a peaceful individual with no known history of violence.
Investigators are continuing to review digital communications, witness statements, and forensic evidence to better understand what triggered the violent confrontation. At this stage, officials have not ruled out any contributing factors, including emotional distress or substance-related impairment.
Sculley was arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
