Victim’s family demand justice

Investigators say Marcus was shot after he knocked on an apartment door to speak with another juvenile inside. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital only to die from his injuries several days later.

Speaking to the outlet, the victim’s parents said they failed to understand why the 18-year-old shot and killed their son.

‘This type of feeling, like, it doesn’t get better, it gets worse every day,’ said Marcus Reeves Sr.

‘What could a 13-year-old do or have done to be shot in his head?’ asked the father. ‘We are really trying to figure it out, and we want answers, and we want justice.’

The father said his son had gone to the home to see a friend who lived at the address.

Why had 13-year-old boy gone to Dallas home to speak to juvenile?

Not immediately clear is why the 13-year-old had gone to see the juvenile and whether the 18-year-old believed there was a threat or felt aggrieved.

The juvenile and Griffin told police they spoke with Reeves Jr. then closed the door before shots being fired.

The arrest warrant declined to list what words were exchanged at the front door prior to the teen being shot.

According to the arrest warrant, a witness on a video call with the juvenile in the home heard gunshots and yelling, hearing ‘Saryiah! You shot him!’

The woman’s arrest comes after Griffin initially lying about shooting the boy after stating ‘she heard gunshots fired.’

Police say a motive remains unclear, and it is not known whether Griffin and Reeves knew each other.

‘I want the younger folks to put their guns down. There are too many young children with guns for no reason,’ added the father. ‘Losing a child is a pain it’s hard to get over, it’s hard to let go.’
