NFL player in critical condition after NYC shooting following verbal dispute involving NY Jets cornerback escalating to gun violence.
New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is fighting for his life following an early Sunday morning shooting in New York City after a dispute outside a restaurant devolving into gun violence.
According to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), shots were fired around 2 a.m. along West 38th street. Responding officers found a 29-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, and listed in critical condition but stable condition, the New York Post reported.
‘We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,’ the Jets said in a statement Sunday afternoon.
The shooting reportedly stemmed from a dispute outside Sei Less restaurant involving the NFL player. The suspected gunman fired multiple rounds before fleeing in a BMW X8, according to the NYPD.
To date, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
Sei Less is an Asian fusion restaurant, which happens to be a favorite hotspot of celebrities including Cardi B, 50 Cent, Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg.
NFL player reportedly made over $8 million during 6 year career
The Minnesota Vikings selected Boyd in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent his first four NFL seasons with the Vikings, before joining the Arizona Cardinals in 2023. He had a one-year stint with the Houston Texans and then signed with the Jets in March.
He has not appeared in any regular season games in 2025 and his roster designation is currently listed as injured reserve.
The Texas native has reportedly earned more than $8 million throughout his NFL career and had signed a $1.6 million contract to play for the Jets this season.
