Geanene White, substitute teacher at YMCA Tiger Academy in Jacksonville, Florida arrested after ordering four students to beat classmate. Educator who also assaulted victim had offered willing students extra credit to beat boy up.
A substitute teacher at a Jacksonville elementary school is accused of ordering no less than four students to beat up another, before eventually assaulting the victim herself according to Florida authorities.
Geanene White, 57, a former substitute teacher at the YMCA Tiger Academy allegedly asked and encouraged four students to take turns hitting and kicking the un-named victim after assuring willing perpetrators would be given extra school credit.
The educator is alleged after the four each individually taking turns assaulting the boy also pushing the victim to the ground, causing the boy to hit his head on a desk, Action News Jax reported.
According to the arrest report, Geanene White was subbing on Feb. 12th and had asked the student victim to get into a small group. Allegedly, that student refused, causing the educator to become frustrated.
‘Who in here can beat him up?’ The teacher asked her class, according to an arrest affidavit. Four students then volunteered for the ‘extra-credit’ beatdown and were called on by White to one by one beat up the student inside the classroom.
After having pushed the victim to the ground and the boy hitting his head, White allegedly dragged the student to the ground by the collar and reported him to school authorities, claiming he was in need of ‘behavioural assistance,’ the Miami Herald reported.
During police questioning, White denied the allegations, claiming that the child partook in two fights in the classroom. However, the child’s classmates, including an accused assailant, said that the substitute teacher instigated the incident. One of the volunteer attackers also told cops that the ‘teacher told him to do it.’
The victim was reported to be sporting cuts and bruises on his head, Jacksonville police officers stated according to First Coast News.
Ms White is facing charges of child abuse and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The schools where she worked, YMCA Tiger Academy and Duval County Public Schools, have claimed that the teacher was vetted.
The educator is no longer employed by the school district. Do you suppose?
