Carson Peters-Berger id as juvenile teen who murdered Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin 10 year old girl, Lily Peters cause he wanted to know what it felt like to kill. Boy is related to victim as her cousin.
The teen boy charged in the April 2022 murder and sexual assault of 10-year-old Lily Peters in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin is no longer identified by his initials in court documents.
A Chippewa County judge unsealed the complaint against the 16-year-old on Thursday, identified as Carson Peters Berger.
Investigators say a then 14 year old Peters Berger killed Peters as he was escorting her home after spending a day with her aunt in the spring of 2022.
Juvenile boy to be tried as adult
Peters Berger, told investigators he had been planning the incident and wanted to know ‘what it felt like to take a life.’ He also admitted to returning to the scene to ‘hide her body better’ after he learned she was reported missing.
At the time of the crime, while officials declined to identify the suspect, given the juvenile suspect’s age, social media users identified the suspect as Carson Peters-Berger – the son of Lily’s aunt, with one social commentator identifying the aunt as Lauraine Davis, and the suspect as Lily Peters cousin — who allegedly made previous threats against the girl.
Peters-Berger is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree sexual assault, and first-degree child sexual assault.
The Wisconsin Court of Appeals ruled in September that Peters-Berger would be tried in adult court. The court said the defense did not prove by moving the case to juvenile court, the seriousness of the offense would not be depreciated, WSAW reported.
Peters Berger will return to court for a motion hearing on June 9, after pleading not guilty to homicide and sexual assault charges during a December arraignment. He faces life in prison if found guilty.
