Tyler and Bailey Gibson, Versailles, Missouri couple arrested performing botched circumcision of infant son at home, which left boy bleeding profusely.

A Missouri couple have been arrested after performing a ‘botched’ circumcision of their infant son at their home only to leave the boy ‘bleeding profusely.’

Tyler Wade Gibson, 35, and Bailey Alexus Gibson, 32, of Versailles, Morgan County are alleged to have taken the victim to Lake Regional Hospital, on November 27, whereupon the boy was transferred to University Hospital. They later left the boy with the hospital against medical advice, after telling police they ‘were tired of waiting.’

Deputies responded to the Gibson home to conduct interviews. After receiving Miranda warnings, Tyler Gibson allegedly admitted to doing the circumcision. He said despite not having any medical training, he completed the procedure after doing ‘research’ and saying a ‘blessing,’ according to an arrest affidavit.

‘The procedure did not go as planned,’ detectives with Morgan County Sheriff’s Department wrote in the affidavit, KRCG reported.

The father told police he used a sanitized blade to perform the procedure and gauze pads to catch the blood but ‘wasn’t prepared for the amount of bleeding,’ the affidavit stated. This prompted the parents to take the boy to the hospital.

Tyler Gibson reportedly told police during the interview he left the blade he used in his bedroom, but cops did not find it while searching the home. Cops did find an empty box of medical gauze, according to the arrest affidavit.

Bailey Gibson told cops that while she was ‘very hesitant’ about her husband completing the procedure, while conceding she helped him carry in out.

It remained unclear, what medical training the father had, if any, to carry out the procedure.

Following the couple’s arrest, social services responded to the home on Nov. 29 and removed their five children. The age of the boy who had the botched circumcision was not revealed.

Upon being formally arraigned on December 5, Morgan County prosecutors charged Tyler Wade Gibson with Abuse of a Child and Unauthorized Practice Of Medicine Or Surgery, both felony counts. KRCG reported.

Bailey Alexus Gibson was charged with Child Abuse.

Tyler and Bailey Gibson who bonded on $25,000 are next scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 28.
