Kathryn Laraine Prior, Henderson ISD teacher arrested in Texas having inappropriate relationship with student, including touching up student, inappropriate messaging and sharing of images.
A Henderson, Texas female educator was arrested following allegations that she had an improper sexual relationship with her student victim, including sending the boy sexualised images, ongoing sex along with ‘rubbing’ the student’s private parts through his clothing while driving him home.
Kathryn Laraine Prior, Henderson ISD‘s vocational agriculture education teacher, was arrested and booked into the Rusk County Jail Complex on Wednesday following allegations of her having an inappropriate relationship with a student at the school where she taught.
Prior, 35, was charged with possession of child p*rnography, indecency with a child and improper relationship between an educator and student, KLTV reported.
Knowingly and willingly engaged in sexual contact with student victim
According to arrest affidavits, Henderson police who investigated the teacher on Tuesday believe Prior knowingly and willingly engaged in sexual contact with the unnamed student on Dec. 9.
During a forensic interview, conducted at the Children’s Advocacy Center, the student detailed an incident involving Prior in which she ‘rubbed’ the victim’s legs and then his penis, outside of his clothes, while she was driving him home, the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported.
The un-identified male victim said emails were also exchanged in which the pair would discuss breasts, being aroused, and day-to-day activities. The communication between the two occurred outside school hours and were not related to school activities, according to the affidavit.
Henderson ISD teacher placed on leave before resigning
The arrest affidavit also cited the victim’s mother searching her son’s Instagram account whereupon she came across a sexually explicit message thread between the pair.
‘HISD immediately placed the teacher on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of this matter,’ HISD officials stated in a press release. The district stated that they are fully cooperating with local law enforcement and remains committed to the safety and security of our students.
The district in a follow up said Prior submitted her resignation on Wednesday.
Prior appeared in court on Thursday morning. She was being held on a $150,000 bond.
