An Indiana mother is alleged to have killed her young three daughters before then taking her own life in a suspected murder-suicide.
The bodies of Rebecca Hughes, 32, Evelyn Newell, 8, Allison Newell, 6, and Amelia Newell, 5, were found at a Wolcottville, Indiana residence on Tuesday, during a welfare check, WSBT reported.
Though officials have not disclosed how the Hughes and three girls died, a GoFundMe purportedly made by the girls’ father claimed it was a triple-murder suicide. Not immediately known was the dynamic between the children’s mother and their father along with the mother’s mental well being.
No known motive or cause and manner of death
To date, officials have not released the cause of death pending the results of a toxicology and autopsy results.
Neighbors said they would see the three girls playing outside and cannot believe they’re gone.
‘I wish it could’ve been me instead of them girls because I’ve lived my life these little they didn’t even stand a chance,’ Pam Laughlin, who knew the girls from Vacation Bible School told WSBT.
Laughlin said she knew the three Newell girls from her church.
She said Evelyn, Allison, and Amelia were always kind to everyone and they were very playful.
‘Shock, we are in shock. I came out this morning to see it just seems so quiet. I threw up my breakfast because my heart hurts for these kids,’ a distressed Laughlin reiterated.
A growing memorial has since grown around the front steps of the home.
A vigil is to be held outside the home where the four bodies were found on Saturday at 7 p.m.
To date no known motives for the Wolcottville murder-suicide was immediately known.
