A well to do Texas lawyer’s wife shot her husband dead then herself at their multi-million mansion, 13 miles away from downtown San Antonio.
Jerry Hernandez, 61, and his wife Sonia, 52, were both found dead at the $1.6 million property in the Shavano Park in a suspected murder-suicide, Wednesday morning.
Police say they had been called to the address just before 8am after receiving reports of gunshots at the four bed, five bath home observed mohave ‘perfectly’ manicured lawns.
No known motive
The couple’s four-bedroom, five-bath, 4,834 sq. ft home was purchased in 2020, according to Zillow home listing.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Jerry’s death as a homicide and his wife’s a suicide according to News 4 San Antonio.
Authorities said it remained unclear what motivated the gun violence, or how the slaying was carried out.
Shavano Park is a leafy suburb in the northern section of San Antonio.
No further details surrounding their deaths have yet been released by authorities.
According to an online profile for Hernandez, he has worked as a lawyer for over thirty years having worked in personal injury.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in 1985 from the University of Texas in Austin, and then earned his law degree from California Western School of Law in 1988.
In 2017 he was named a top personal injury lawyer by S.A. Scene Magazine, and is often asked to speak to lawyer groups about trial tactics.
Online records show that Sonia owned a beauty boutique. The couple are parents to one daughter, 25 year-old Bianca Rose.
