How to get the most out of your brand new laptop for optimal performance: run software update, play favorite browser games, upload & remove apps you want, connect to ethernet cable, download cloud storage apps.

Try these suggestions to get the most out of your brand new laptop.

Whether you’ve just got your hands on the latest MacBook or a budget Windows laptop, you’re probably very excited. After all, there’s no better feeling than treating yourself to a laptop upgrade.

Of course, getting a new laptop can be a little overwhelming for some people, as it can leave you unsure of where to start. There’s so much to do; it’s crazy.

Therefore, to make your life easier, this article has five things for you to do with your new laptop that will help you to maximize the experience.

Play Browser Games

Before you do anything complicated (or boring), you should play some browser games. Afterwards, you should then bookmark them in your favorite browser so that you can access them quickly in the future.

Battle royale games are good, too. Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone are great options.

Run a Software Update

So that your new laptop can perform to its maximum capability, you should run a software update within the first couple of days.

On Windows, Windows 11 was just recently released. Likewise, the macOS Monterey has also recently been released on MacBook, meaning there are lots of new features for you to dive into.

Remove Apps You Don’t Need

One of the biggest complaints that people have about new laptops is that they don’t run as fast as they initially hoped they would. However, this often isn’t a problem with the laptop – instead, it’s a problem with the apps.

For example, if there are lots of default stock apps involved (such as video editing apps), this takes up space on your laptop’s hardware, subsequently making it run slower. Thankfully, the solution is simple: just remove the apps you don’t need

You should notice that this makes your laptop run faster and more smoothly in the long run.

Connect an Ethernet Cable

Next, you should connect an ethernet cable to your laptop.

Ethernet connections are far superior to wireless ones. They provide users with a more reliable connection that’s less likely to drop out at random points.

If you don’t have one already, make sure to order an ethernet adapter online so that you can get your hands on one as quickly as possible.

Download Cloud Storage Apps

The likelihood is that you have a lot of files that you want to store on your laptop, from photos to work documents. Rather than allowing these files to quickly take up space on your internal storage, you should download cloud storage apps. This way, you can store everything digitally via the internet rather than having to worry about limited hard drive space.

Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox are excellent choices. For consistency purposes, it’s recommended that you only use a maximum of two apps, as any more will cause confusion.
