The rise of Cannabis in Pop Culture: How marijuana use became acceptable and part of contemporary culture and what to expect going forward.

There is a saying that goes “change is inevitable.” However, not all changes are accepted by societies or encouraged by people. Many of the ideas or products that are now used by people were fiercely rejected not so long ago; it took people time to incorporate them into their lives.

At the top of the list of things that were controversial in different societies is cannabis. In the beginning, people feared the effects of cannabis on mental health and behavior. Teens were monitored by the parents to ensure they were not using the substance in any shape or form. As in the case with anything else, the use of Cannabis has an effect on many areas in people’s lives, including pop culture.

1. Damaged The Relationship Between Some Teens And Their Parents

In the year 1936, a movie called Reefer Madness premiered and it featured teens using marijuana and the supposed effects it had on them. You can only imagine how this left a huge negative impact on parents, almost everyone thought their child was consuming cannabis and the trust they had towards their children was compromised. As a result, years later, the government interfered with taxation law. The aim of this law was to regulate and limit the selling and use of the substance due to its potential harms.

2. Legalization

Many presidents and politicians spent a lot of time trying to fight cannabis and its usage. There were presidential campaigns that encouraged teens and adults not to be tempted or give in and try the substance under any kind of peer pressure.

Many people were against the government and tried to speak about the benefits of the substance and that it can be used in various ways that are not harmful. Little did they know that many years later, technology will help in the creation of different products infused with CBD.

New technologies managed to help with the creation of pure CBD products. Similarly, lineups available at Gold Bee are said to be completely pure, without any trace of THC giving the effect of an altered mental state. Who would have thought that we can now get gummies, oils, and even capsules infused with CBD without having to deal with any psychoactive effects! Furthermore, consuming the substance in a way that does change thoughts or behavior has been the dream of many, and to date, things have changed drastically from the year 1996 when California legalized the use of marijuana.

3. “It Saved My Life”, said Willie Nelson

The iconic country singer claims that the consumption of marijuana was the reason he lived for many years and was able to release awesome songs. Such an announcement is a huge shift from the days when celebrities were busted for the use of pot and were criticized if they encouraged the consumption of cannabis. Many people have been talking about the link between creativity and the consumption of CBD and how they think it is useful for artists. In previous years and since its legalization, many studies have tackled this topic and the researchers still continue to do so.

Many would agree that not all change is good, but it is in many cases, inevitable. Knowing whether a certain change will be good or bad for society is a matter of time, perspective, and of course, knowledge. As we have seen, there have been many steps leading to the legalization of marijuana and it took us many years to reach a form of the substance that does not jeopardize mental health. Who knows what other benefits we can accomplish next!
