Sahar Tabar Iranian Instagram star known for Angelina Jolie zombie look alike arrested for blasphemy after claims of ‘cultural crime and social and moral corruption.’

An Iranian Instagram star infamous for her transformation into a zombie Angelina Jolie look alike has been arrested for ‘encouraging youth corruption’, according to a report.

Sahar Tabar, 22, was detained on the orders of Tehran’s guidance court, whose office deals with ‘cultural crimes and social and moral corruption,’ reports the Tasnim News Agency group.

According to the release, Tabar faces charges of blasphemy, inciting violence, gaining income through inappropriate means, and encouraging youths to corruption.

Tabar first made headlines in 2017 after claiming having had ’50 surgeries’ to look like her favorite Hollywood star — while posting selfies showing her hollow cheeks, inflated lips and signature upturned nose.

In some of the images, the Iranian woman can be seen wearing a loosely fitting hijab over her hair and a white bandage on her nose.

Such bandages, required after nose operations, are commonly seen on Tehran’s streets. Cosmetic surgery is hugely popular in the Islamic republic, with tens of thousands of operations taking place each year reports the guardian.

Moral outrage:

Following heightened media interest, the young woman later conceded that her ‘shocking’, emaciated look was actually created with the help of makeup and digital editing.

Last year, she shared images on her Instagram page (since removed) with her tens of thousands of followers showing what she actually looks like.

The social media celebrity’s latest media maelstrom follows reports of members of the public complaining about her. It wasn’t necessarily clear which members of the public were being referenced.

Her arrest is the latest in a series of crackdowns on, mostly female, Instagram users in Iran.

Instagram is the only social media app available in Iran, with Facebook and Twitter banned.
