Mackenzie Lueck missing: A Salt Lake City University of Utah student remains unaccounted for a week after catching a Lyft service during early morning hours.
Concerns over a University of Utah student who disappeared after ordering a Lyft ride in California have heightened a week after she was last seen.
Mackenzie Lueck, 23, had flown in to Salt Lake City from Los Angeles after attending her grandmother’s funeral in California last weekend. The Salt Lake City Police Department said Lueck arrived at the airport on June 17, just after 1.am and ordered a Lyft ride-share to an address in North Salt Lake.
Investigators said she was last seen ‘in the early morning hours of Monday.’
Her family told KSTU they last heard from her around 1 a.m. on June 17. Lueck’s dad said his daughter texted her parents and told them her flight landed, but haven’t heard from her since.
On Thursday, Lueck’s family reported her missing.

And then there were these irregularities:
Salt Lake City police issued a news release Saturday urging the public to help find Lueck saying that ‘detectives are concerned for Mackenzie’s welfare.’ But in that same release, they said investigators have not ‘discovered any information that would lead us to believe that Mackenzie has been harmed or is in danger at this time.’
Authorities said they’ve been in contact with both Lyft — and Lueck’s apparent driver.
Told Lyft in a statement: ‘The safety of our community is fundamental to Lyft and we are actively assisting law enforcement with their investigations.’
According to the car app driving service, Lueck’s route from the airport didn’t contain any ‘irregularities and ended at the destination as originally entered by the rider.’
The rider continued to drive for Lyft after Lueck’s ride ended, the company said.
Of note, Lueck’s phone has been off since she went missing on Monday and she hasn’t posted on social media. She didn’t show up for work or for her classes. Her car is still at her home and her luggage hasn’t been found.
Not immediately clear is why Lueck upon returning to Utah in early morning hours ordered a car service to North Salt Lake as opposed to her home directly at Trolley Square, Salt Lake City?
Lueck has been described as 5 feet 6 inches and weighs around 120 pounds. She has blonde hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on Lueck’s disappearance is urged to contact the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000.
