Greenwich Village Teen jumps to her suicide death: A troubled girl takes her own life after ongoing personal tribulations.
A 14 year old teen girl has leapt to her suicide death from her family’s Greenwich Village apartment after her parents refused to let her attend a birthday party.
The teen girl’s death follows her ‘getting’ in trouble with her parents after she was recently caught shoplifting at Barnes and Noble. Earlier in the week she also received a poor report during a parent-teacher conference at her school.
Upon being forbidden from attending her friend’s birthday party on Wednesday, the teen according to police ‘angrily locked’ herself in her room.
Shortly after the daughter removed the screen from her window where she jumped at 4:50pm.
She landed on the scaffolding below and was declared dead at the scene.
Prior to the daughter leaping to her death, her parents tried to force the door open after locking it. However, by the time they got through, it was too late.

It was formerly reported that she was 15, however new reports say she was 14.
Video taken from the scene shows dozens of police and first responders, shutting down the street, as crews recovered the teen from the scaffolding roof.
‘They’re upstairs now. They’re devastated,’ police sources said of her parents to the New York Daily News on Wednesday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the girl had been seen arguing with her boyfriend outside the apartment building.
Authorities have not yet released her identity apart from confirming that her father is a pastry chef and her mother is a nurse. Not clear was what remedies the parents sought to offer their suicidal daughter and whether there had been other signals that the girl was troubled.
Offered a neighbor who knew the family, ‘This is horrible. This is heavy’.
