Authorities have released the name of the Farmingdale, Long Island woman who came to be brutally murdered last night, her body gruesomely decapitated as Patricia Ward, a 66 year old local languages college professor.
According to witnesses the woman’s lifeless body came to end up in the middle of the road outside of the apartment where she lived after her son beheaded her. Horrified witnesses would tell how the son had kicked her decapitated head some 20 feet down the road. Authorities would also tell that the woman’s feet had also come to be detached, lying some distance away from her body.
Upon initially coming across the woman’s body, dressed only in a bra and pants, witnesses believed it to be part of a Halloween prank.
The much beloved 66 year old professor is reported to have taught at Farmingdale State College for the last 28 years where she acted as an assistant professor of language arts at the Long Island Educational Opportunity Center where she assisted high school students who needed help preparing for college.
Told Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Patrick Calabria in a statement today: ‘Patricia Ward was a member of the campus for 28 years. She was well-known, well-liked, and well-respected. The campus is a very sad place today.’
After having killed the woman the suspect then left the scene to shortly jump in front of an oncoming Long Island train where he would later be identified as the woman’s son, Derek Ward.
He would be found to be carrying on his person a pistol and 100 valium pills raising questions to what degrees drug use may have resulted in the gruesome murder?
According to Daily News the 35-year-old son had a criminal history and psychiatric problems spanning a decade. That said there were no recorded instances of mother and son ever previously been involved in a domestic disturbance.
The tabloid would also note the son was chronically unemployed.
Patricia Ward told authorities prior to the discovery of her body had come to insure multiple stab wounds and broken ribs. Her murder tell authorities came to take place after 4pm inside her apartment.
A knife would come to be recovered inside the apartment, with police believing it was used in the killing pending forensic examination.
To date authorities have yet to disclose what may led to the son exacting his plan or the degree of venom he harbored given the noxious nature of Patricia Ward’s death.
