Seems like our gold medalists aren’t the prime examples we want them to be, and just like the rest of us, get a little rowdy and wild on their day off.
Shaun White was arrested Sunday after he apparently trashed the Loews Vanderbilt hotel in Nashville, Tennessee while highly intoxicated. He then pulled a couple of fire alarms and took off running when confronted by hotel staff. He experienced injury to the face, when trying to escape and is now rocking a bad ass black eye in his mug shot.
So it seems like our Olympians come out to play too, which has been up for hot discussion with stars such as Michael Phelps and his marijuana scandal and even Ryan Lochte and his ‘one night stand’ rumors being labeled as shameful and not appropriate for men of his stature.
I personally haven’t had a glimpse at their contracts but I can guess that the “Be role model for children everywhere” clause is not in there. Deciding to let loose does not make them any less worthy of their titles nor do they deserve to lose any endorsements or fan base for something as juvenile as a drunken night on the town (Alright so a vandalism and injury to others may or may not of occurred…but who’s cares about all the technical stuff…)
We have come to idolize our athletes so much that the slightest mistake is warrant for execution where as we have Lilo and her crew of celebrity degenerates getting praise for their dumb ass shenanigans. Let the players have a little fun! As for his arrest, well that was well deserved but who doesn’t have a mug shot now a days ? Welcome to the club Shaun !
