young individual. When I first came to NYC as an 8 year old I knew I wanted to work in fashion. In fact I’ve been keeping a hard book of fashion clippings I’ve been making ever since I was really young, ten or so, and eventually I would like to release that with some of my recent projects into a kind of coffee table book- exploring the drama and glamor of the NY social scene.

SCV: Yes, granted, but we are in a recession, there are girls like you who are just happy to manage getting an unpaid internship…

AW: Well, not every job I get pays, a lot of it building credit for my own portfolio as well as access to the client that wouldn’t necessarily come your way if you didn’t apply yourself. It’s building blocks and lots of referrals.

SCV; I get the sense you’re not the most necessarily loved new arrival in the city. Why is that?

AW: I think you have to understand there’s this very guarded factor of who ascends to the perceived throne of popularity and social status factor, and there are a lot of girls who I think who could easily make a stink seeing someone new in the scene when they have been at it for a while.

SCV: Such as?

AW: Well, I’m just not going to give those names away, but they know who they are…frankly, I just don’t pay attention to it.

SCV: But there is this presumed pressure that one has to come from the correct scene, is seen hanging at the right parties, with the right people, entities? Something it seems you have managed to pull off with aplomb…

AW: Ultimately no matter which party you attend and who photographs you,
