EYERUSALEM GIRMA:
SCV: What do you do?
EG: I’m a fashion model. I’m also an accessories designer and aspiring singer. When you work as a model you look for lots of other things to do to keep you in the loop. I once even took a course for making handbags at FIT (Fashion Institute).
SCV: You have an accent. Where are you from?
EG: So do you. Where are you from?
SCV: I asked first.
EG: Ethiopia. I won the Green card lottery 4 years ago and came to the US when I was only 18.
SCV: Would you like to be famous?
EG: I would love to be a top model if I could. Really, I’m very blessed to be here.
SCV: So fame is important to you?
EG: I think what’s important for me is to inspire others. What is fame?
SCV: What does it mean to be famous?
EG: To have people be obsessed with you. To have people watch and criticize everything you do.
SCV: Are you speaking from experience?
EG: From observation. I don’t think it’s easy to say anything about anyone until you have walked in their shoes.
SCV; What is celebrity?
EG: Gossip.
SCV: Indeed.
