Remarkably synchronized, claps, kicks and raised arms along with individual spouting of culturally relevant terms—five person segments interrupted the collective unit. Accompanied by a melancholic chanter, the performance drew attention to racial, social and sexual disparities imminent at the rise of Fascism, 1930’s. It recalled our fore fathers and celebrated freedom, diversity and will. Having just met one another for the first time in February—their piece was the longest, of the night’s sketches.

American Document directed by Anne Bogart for six actors from SITI Company and ten dancers from Graham, blueprints archival material initiated by Graham herself and will premier on opening night.
