ABC’s chief political correspondent and Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos, presented NCLD’s Distinguished Advocacy Award to political consultant James Carville, a man (aka role model) who obviously rose to the top, despite his learning disabilities.

“There are geniuses, then there’s James Carver. (laughter) He’s the most loyal friend you could ever imagine and one of the best teachers and he’s doing it all with a case of ADD like you wouldn’t believe.” (laughter)

As Carver began his acceptance speech, Stephanopoulos cut in, reminding him he had not yet accepted his award.

“I’m ADHD!” he shouted and added about Stephanopoulos, “He’s short, I’m tall.  He’s got hair.  I don’t.  He’s Greek.  I’m Cajun.  But we do have something in common.  He graduated summa cum laude from Columbia and I graduated thank the lordy! “(laughter)

Carver read a touching speech that his daughter, diagnosed with countless learning disabilities, gave at her school and concluded with a passage form the Dr. Seuss classic, “Oh the Places You’ll Go.”
