In my mind I want to tell him how spacious the space is, that you can see mostly everyone at one time, how kick ass the second room really is, tell him how amazing the sound system is, how wonderfully accessible the bathrooms are… tell him that he’s just gotten himself a new holy fan.
As I return to go back inside I stop to chat with one of the lady bartenders. It’s then that I find out that Club Europa has been in business for 16 years… And that this particular ‘bartender has worked here for 13 years! T-H-I-R-T-E-E-N Y-E-A-R-S… Which is like 9 billion in club years… (And yeah, she was still pretty hot.)
Set up in two camps- Europa operates Germs on Friday nights and the Polish locals Saturday night. Which completely explained the random sprinkles of straight-edge-clean-cut-blond-hair-blue-eyed Polish kids rubbing elbows with Germ’s Club Kids & Trannies. Of course that was the whole point, the reason why this all diabolically worked.
Turning to finally leave I once again run into ‘One Half Nelson,‘ his Lady Gaga pout still in place with his mouth sucking heartily on one of those strawberry pierogis. I must have smiled a half crazy smile when I suddenly felt as if a weight had been lifted off from my shoulders, and I immediately felt better about NY nightlife.
