Meet a pretty-faced girl who calls herself Elle Rex. She’s your typical skinny-hipster-type who happens to be the resident photographer at GERMS. Noticing her mushroom-ish haircut that looks like she was channeling my little brother circa 1993; I turn and ask her who cuts her hair?
“My boyfriend cut it for me,” she informs me, her finger clicking way too fast.
“Is he a hair stylist?” I ask
“No,” she says, her camera pointed square at me.
I think and wonder for a moment if having your own hair stylist is so passé.
From the other room I hear a large boom. Quickly we run over to find resident DJ Nita Aviance causing delectable havoc to his fans. They’re all in so much bliss, the music throbbing and their jaw bones stroking. Kids who come in all shapes, colors, and sizes dancing wildly. Flinging their souls rather madly.
From here we waft into the smaller, super crowded, darker, second room, where DJ Lauren Dillard is busy spinning a pretty sick remix of “I Could Never Be Your Women” by White Town. I momentarily go berserk before reaching over to score myself one of those $3 PBR’s sifting amongst rancid wrists.
I suddenly close my eyes and firmly plant myself right in the middle of all the action… my heart beginning to pound like a saber, my mind beginning to lose radar. As I dance with Kitty, I watch the kids… bumpin’, grindin’, vogue-in’, getting’ low, wavin’ those glow sticks in the air, rollin’ on the floor, sweating their asses off, but most of all havin’ a ball.
For a moment I wonder if everyone here is on drugs? Like a weird-psycho, I go around and ask a bunch of random people if they’re on drugs. Cause I’m an innocent, I can never really tell who’s on, its kind of like Flight 945 departing right over my head.
I now turn and look for the creator of the party, Denny Le Nimh, heading outside in the hope that he may be out doors grabbing himself momentary respite.
