Tibi is for the young and carefree. See it in the fabrics choices: florals, sparkles, and plaid. See it in the models’ styling: big “Felicity” curls, natural eyes, pale lips. See it even in the runway music: A pounding remix of Yeasayer’s Ambling Alp is the hippest choice this side of Georges Chakra’s use of Grizzly Bear. Do designers hire interns specifically to help them select Pitchfork-friendly tunes?
There was a lot to love in this line. Designer Amy Smilovic unites her large range of looks by belting almost everything and pairing several looks with burgundy tights. The day outfits are highly wearable, and some (strapless dresses over a long-sleeved tee) have a funky do-it-yourself vibe. Tibi also made some wonderful fabric choices. A few crowd-pleasing dresses were made of prints that looked straight out of a Jackson Pollock painting.
