Georges Chakra is not for the faint of heart. The Beirut native has dressed the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, and Emily Blunt; all powerful women who expect to be noticed when they walk into a room. Fall 2010 is no different.
Chakra’s current line has power in spades. Aside from two strange early entries that vaguely recall a sleeping bag meeting a candy wrapper, each piece is eye-catching for its sharp angles, bold silhouettes, or exaggerated proportions. An early favorite was a Wedgwood blue cocktail dress with a wonderfully bizarre collar that made the blonde model resemble an alien flight attendant from the future – in a good way.
For a woman to don Georges Chakra, a take-no-prisoners attitude is a must. That much was clear when look after look had features like enough black lace to intimidate Madonna, candy apple red gowns with sheer cutouts and beading, and bold formal outerwear that was as glam as it was mature. Will 2010 be the year of the formal statement jacket?
