First Impressions: A Night At HEIST Gallery.

Talia Eisenberg and Casey Jones.

Her success tonight was in no small part due to the people that believe in her. People like Colin Huerter, who’s known her for the past three years. The two kept in touch, and this past November, Colin found an opportunity with Heist for Sadie’s work to shine.

Said Sadie, “Inspiration comes from the streets. I take in what I experience. I’ve been through Hell.” Ms. Weis was a vision tonight; almost as pale as porcelain, but flush with energy that only comes with a New York gallery premiere.  “I transcribed what I’ve been through with painting. In Germany, I was really struggling—I had nothing.” Since learning of her gallery offer last fall, she described it as “Two really intense months of stress and magic. I’ve been living this. I made my life in this gallery.”

Sadie’s triumph wouldn’t have been possible without the capable help of Talia Eisenberg and her staff. With Heist, Talia’s goal is to support and encourage the best new artists she comes across. “I try to show work that people haven’t seen before,” said Talia, “I believe in Sadie.” Talia inherited her love of art—and her savvy for hosting it—from her grandmother, who also owned a gallery.
