Christina Aguilera botches her Super Bowl gig in front of over 100 million people. One day even this too will pass…

It must be a singer’s nightmare- to go up on stage and publicly mangle their act. Not the most mesmerizing feel. But add a world wide audience watching you live and your errors become multiplied (even now) over and over courtesy of the rapid fire effects of the chattering web.

washingtonpostChristina Aguilera hit all the right notes during her pre-Super Bowl performance of the National Anthem. But the right lyrics? Not so much.

Aguilera completely dissed both the ramparts and the fact that they were gallantly streaming by skipping that line entirely, instead singing: “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming.” That was a pseudo-repeat of the earlier lyric, “What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming.”

For her efforts the singer has been lambasted ad nauseum and even this too will one day pass, but like most perverse things that pass for culture these days, we are willing to bet even this version might one day may make it in the top ten.

After all who doesn’t love a rock star who manages to screw things up off stage and now on stage too?
