This past Sunday evening I was incredibly fortunate to be invited along to participate in festivities on behalf of one of the most exemplary causes that this author has personally ever been invited to. The non profit organization, ‘Beauty Cares,’ had come along to honor some of the unsung champions who work tirelessly on behalf of those women who have had the incredible misfortune of being victims of domestic violence. In an emotional evening Aryun Quinn, founder of ‘Beauty Cares,’ along with Joy Munger a principal at the organization were there to honor the wonderful efforts of Dr Andrew Jacono, a leading facial reconstruction plastic surgeon, who heads the pro bono group ‘Face to Face’ along with Violy McCausland-Seve who has ceaselessly helped fund ‘Beauty Cares.’
Amongst many well wishers, donors and society we listened to heart felt stories of growing up in dysfunctional family settings that essentially promulgated the vicious cycle of shame, the feeling of worthlessness and the perpetuated manifestation of time over time domestic violence with most victims fearing retribution, shame, and public condemnation from the wrath of uncivil actions at the behest of violent boyfriends and husbands.
