‘Beauty Cares.’ Making a dramatic difference to women victim of domestic violence.

“What you have to realize,” countered Joy Munger, “is that there is deep shame, and a feeling of a taboo status that prevents many women from speaking out against these crimes and it is important to make women understand that if they are to break this vicious cycle they do indeed need to get away and speak up about what is happening. It’s a crime that has no prejudice, even Rihana, the pop star has been victim of this type of behavior.”

I then proceeded to ask what the imperative of the cause was?

“There’s a need for money to help these women relocate, to take them away from these onerous conditions, to help deal with their physical deformities as well as to pay for counselling, and ultimately re discover other women and once again re discover the world. What it comes down to is that these women overcome the self hatred that domestic violence breeds and the re amplification of self esteem.”

All in all it was a very inspiring evening, and one hopes that not only will these women get the help they so obviously need but that their attitude along with society’s changes for the better. Thank you very much Jonathan Marder for suggesting that I come along and bravo to everyone who continues to work ceasellessly for this wonderful cause.
