A Missouri woman riding in the passenger seat of a vehicle was killed earlier this week after hanging her head from the window only to be hit by a mailbox.
Alyssa Hope Vanorsdel, 28, of of Springfield, Missouri and her 25-year-old friend, the victim, were driving along Highway U near Rogerville, Christian County, Missouri, just on 4 a.m, August 30th, when the tragedy occurred.
According to a release from The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Alyssa was driving her SUV westbound on the Christian county highway when the un-identified victim, only identified as hailing from Ozark, Missouri, unbuckled her seatbelt and proceeded to hang her head and upper body from the passenger window.

For reasons unknown at this time, Alyssa reportedly veered slightly to the right and clipped a roadside mailbox. The mailbox made full contact with the head of the 25-year-old woman. As a result, the young woman suffered a catastrophic injury to her head, leading to her instant death according to newstalkkzrg.
The 25-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased on the scene at 4:36 a.m. by first responders.
Vanorsdel was arrested about an hour and a half after the crash on suspicion of felony driving while intoxicated resulting in the death of another person.
She was taken to the Christian County Jail and has since been released, according to the patrol’s online arrest report.
It remained unclear whether Vanorsdel would be held responsible for the death of the 25-year-old passenger.
Authorities continue to investigate.
