Body of missing Kentucky teen Marly Kinney found as boat captain Cameron Conley charged w/ DUI driving after ‘party’ boat left Grayson Lake area without passenger after teen getting off boat to use bathroom.
The body of a missing Kentucky teen girl has been found as authorities now charge a pontoon boat captain with/ DUI driving after a ‘fun’ get together amongst friends earlier this week ended in tragedy.
Marly Kinney, 19, was last seen alive at around 4pm Wednesday near Grayson Lake, Kentucky, about 180 miles east of Louisville. It wasn’t until 5 days later that the 19-year-old’s body was found on Sunday just on 3.45pm, near Grayson Lake.
The teenager’s cause of death has not been released and is still under review by the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort according to Kentcky State Police.
Kentcky boat captain blood alcohol level twice legal limit
Cameron Conley, 23, of Ashland, KY., the boat driver told Grayson Lake Marina staff that he was unable to find a female passenger on the boat he was operating according to FOX 56.
Conley, had been arrested after police said his blood alcohol was allegedly twice the legal limit.
State police noted that they smelled alcohol on Conley as he spoke to them. They also claimed that Conley’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy.
The boat captain allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol and agreed to a preliminary breath test.
Conley’s blood alcohol level was allegedly measured at .137, about two times the legal limit in Kentucky.
His blood alcohol level was allegedly measured again at .135 approximately 20 minutes later, according to the outlet.
Conley was charged with operating a boat while intoxicated or under the influence.
He was taken to the Carter County Detention Center, but has since been released.
Conley is set to be arraigned on July 22, according to Kentucky court records.
Kinney’s public Instagram account showed that she followed a man with the same name as Conley.
Party boat forgot teen girl
According to Kinney’s sister, Willow VanHoose, several people had gotten off the boat to use the bathroom at the time of Marly’s disappearance. When they got back on, they began driving away before realizing Marly was no longer with the group.
Willow said they immediately circled back to the area where they believed they had last seen Marly, calling out for her, and asking nearby boaters if they had seen her before reporting her missing around 4 p.m. The sibling believes Marly had been missing since around 3 p.m.
Tributes poured in for the late 19-year-old as the community mourns her death.
‘Prayers for the family and first responders God Bless,’ one person wrote on Facebook.
Another said: ‘It’s heartbreaking to hear this. Prayers for the family.’
‘So very heartbreaking, thank you to the first responders for giving the family closure,’ another user wrote.
