Define good sportsmanship? A youth softball coach from Chattanooga, Tennessee, has been arrested after viral video appeared to show her assaulting two opposing coaches following a recent 8-and-under game.
Meredith Haskew Grant was captured in video (see below) rushing toward and colliding with at least one opposing coach. Footage, which was widely shared on Facebook and Instagram shows other adults and young players nearby as the altercation unfolds.
As the mayhem plays out, concerned parents are heard shouting ‘Girls, get in the dugout!’
Pending charges?
In an update shared by TattooedUmp Cory Harvey, a well-known amateur baseball and softball content creator, Grant was later arrested and booked on a battery charge, with possible child endangerment counts under review because children were on the field during the confrontation. Local law enforcement agencies had not publicly released a report or confirmed details of the arrest as of Monday.

Softball coach previously inducted into school Athletic Hall of Fame
Grant is a former multi-sport athlete at East Ridge High School and was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024 for her accomplishments in volleyball and other sports.
Fury Platinum Softball, has since indicated that Grant who had been an assistant coach with an 8U team is no longer affiliated with the organization.
