Misty Roberts trial begins as ex DeRidder mayor denies sex with underage boy as prosecution shares incriminating statements her son made, lewd photo with victim, along with Door Dash driver delivering emergency contraceptives to defendant’s home as defense alleges case is rumors and innuendo.
The case of a former DeRidder mayor in Louisiana accused of having sex with an underage boy is underway as prosecutors shared incriminating video in court while the accused’s defense lawyers sought to claim their client’s innocence.
Misty Roberts’ son (formerly Misty Clayton) told the court that he saw his mother having sex with his underage friend, according to 2025 interview shown in court on Friday.
The jury also heard from witnesses, including a man who said he delivered Plan B (contraceptive option) to the former mayor’s door after her alleged sexual encounter with an underage boy.

Former DeRidder mayor resigns prior to sex crime charges involving juvenile
Roberts, 43, is accused of having sex with a teen at a party in 2024 while she was mayor of DeRidder. The alleged incident led to the elected official resigning at the time and her arrest shortly after.
Roberts was in the middle of her second term as the municipality’s mayor, winning reelection with sixty percent of the vote in 2022 prior to her abrupt resignation following sex assault charges.
She is charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile, KPLC reported.
Her trial got underway this week after numerous delays, KSLA reported.
Misty Roberts trial sees prosecutors bring forward incriminating evidence
A six-person jury listened as prosecutor Charles Robinson laid out the state’s plan to provide evidence and witness testimony proving Misty Roberts had sexual relations with a teenage minor during a party at her home in July 2024, while she was serving as mayor.
The prosecution stated it intended to share evidence including screenshots of text messages between Roberts and the victim’s mother, in which the mother asked Roberts, ‘for the good of both our families, can you assure me you are not pregnant’ to which Roberts is alleged to have responded that she was on birth control, and that ‘it didn’t reach that point during those few minutes.’
The prosecution also stated that they intended to provide further proof of indiscreet behavior including Roberts placing a DoorDash order for the emergency contraceptive, Plan B.
As part of its case, the prosecution also shared a ‘lewd’ photo of Roberts and the alleged juvenile victim on the night of the incident.
Ex DeRidder mayor alleges bias, innuendo and rumor against her
The defense counsel in turn alleged that the prosecution was attempting to ‘railroad’ Roberts and that sexual relations never occurred between her and the alleged victim. ‘Misty Roberts has committed no sex crime,’ her counsel, Adam Johnson, told jurors, according to American Press.
Instead, Johnson said his evidence will show that Roberts put herself ‘in a compromising position’ with the teen, and that the investigation against Roberts was fueled by bias and a botched investigation including evidence and audio recordings that were accidentally deleted.
Roberts’ attorneys said officials only learned of the case through social media.
‘Rumor became the story, and story became the press release,’ Johnson said, according to KPLC.
Johnson said the boy did not acknowledge the incident happened, but he started “embracing” it after his girlfriend left him and the rumor had spread, KPLC reported.
Trial was expected to continue on to the weekend.
