Roberts who fled the scene by vehicle was taken into custody in Palmetto within 25 minutes of the shooting. According to BPD, he agreed to be interviewed by Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit detectives and was arrested shortly before 6 p.m.
‘We treated this as an active shooter response. We had all hands on deck. Obviously, any shooting here in Bradenton is a major concern to us, but especially when you hear in the middle of a workday at a commercial area. These are all medical buildings here, that is very frightening. This was not a building that had patients, but you will see right next-door to it, there were people visiting dentists nearby. We had a lot of people that heard the shooting so it is incredibly scary,’ said Public Information Officer Meredith Censullo.
Following his arrest, Roberts was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm.
According to a social media commentator, the victim leaves behind a 6 year old son.
