A Texas man shot and killed his ‘on and off’ girlfriend at a Holiday Inn on Thursday, before then turning the murder weapon on himself according to the Brownsville Police Department.
Shelsy Solis Sosa, 38, a mother of five and 39-year-old German Navarro Lopez, both of Brownsville were found dead with apparent gunshot wounds to the head in a room at the Holiday Inn in the 600 block of Sunrise Boulevard at around 12:34 p.m., police said. Hotel staff discovered the bodies and alerted authorities, ValleyCentral reported.
The Brownsville Police Department in a Facebook post said evidence indicates Lopez shot Solis Sosa before turning the gun on himself. Both individuals were located in bed, and a firearm was recovered at the scene in what is now being described as a murder-suicide.
Couple were in toxic on and off relationship
Authorities confirmed the pair were in an on-and-off relationship. Police said additional details would not be made available at this time.
The case remains under investigation.
