Marana mother and son detained in Nancy Guthrie abduction case just two miles from abducted woman’s Tucson, Arizona home as the internet is awash in speculation that the male taken into custody may be Nancy’s son in law bandmate, Dominic Evans. A third person was also detained during a nearby traffic stop.

Social media is awash with claims that a SWAT raid has led to a mother and son being detained from a Marana, Arizona home in connection to the abducted Nancy Guthrie case.

The two individuals were taken in just two miles from where the 84-year-old matriarch was abducted 13 days earlier on February 1. The address was given as 6215 N. Camino De Michael, Marana, AZ.

While few details as to the identities of the individuals taken into custody were revealed, initial social media posts confirmed that two individuals, a male and female, identified only as a mother and son being detained in relation to the abduction of Today show co-host anchor, Savannah Guthrie’s mother.

13 day breakthrough in Nancy Guthrie abduction?

In a follow up update, News Nation reported that a third person was detained during a traffic stop, and that person had been on their way to the home where the male and female (believed to be mother and son) were detained.

The developments come as Pima County SWAT teams and a mobile command center were seen rolling out from the Sheriff’s parking lot earlier on Friday. The movement included SWAT vehicles, bomb squad units, and command center resources, possibly heading toward Marana, Arizona.

Although investigators have yet to identify the suspect, they have previously stated the wanted individual being a male between 5’9” and 5’10” tall, with an average build, and wearing a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack. The agency has increased the reward for information leading to an arrest or conviction to $100,000 and says it has received more than 13,000 tips.

Was Dominic Evans arrested in Marana, Arizona SWAT raid?

Amid the SWAT movement and ongoing search efforts, online queries have resurfaced about Dominic Evans, a musician based in the Tucson area with connections to Marana, Arizona, TimesNowNews reported. The musician is the bandmate of Nancy Guthrie’s son in law, Tomasso Cioni and there had been initial speculation following the release of video and images by the FBI on Tuesday that the bandmate may have been involved in the case.

Public records and online sources associate Evans with an address in Marana, Arizona, and indicate he has lived in the broader Tucson region for years, with past addresses in Tucson, Eloy, and other parts of Arizona.

Who is Baird Greene & is he involved in SWAT raid?

Of note, social media had initially stated that the Marana home where the SWAT raid took place belonging to that of Baird Greene, 60, who is the Chief Deputy at the Arizona Attorney’ General Office.

A follow update from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office stated, ‘it has been corrected that this home does not belong to Baird Greene and it is not an Airbnb.’

The release and lack of further information released led to further speculation online, including one person who stated, ‘It is rumored that forensics trucks are onsite. If so, this could mean that we have a DNA match. Press conference has been canceled.’

An anticipated press briefing or ‘written statement’ was postponed after the FBI asked that details pertaining to Friday night’s raid be kept under wraps.

‘Law enforcement activity is underway at a residence near E Orange Grove Rd & N First Ave related to the Guthrie case,’ the department wrote on X.

Of disconcert were social media posts alleging a fourth person (inside a black Range Rover vehicle with the third person) dying of a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head as FBI agents approached. Authorities had yet to confirm or deny the claim of a purported suicide at the Marana scene.

The lack of clarity amid new developments left the nation on the edge as the case surrounding a celebrity TV anchor took a new twist. Most pressing, was the whereabouts of Nancy Guthrie, including whether the debilitated 84-year-old matriarch was still alive remained unknown.
