Alicia Shelton, Grants Pass, Oregon woman with a history of mental health and substance abuse shot dead by cops after refusing to drop weapons following reports of shots fired on the road.
A Grants Pass, Oregon woman has died after police were called to a local intersection following reports of the woman firing off rounds only to be shot dead by responding officers after refusing verbal demands to ‘drop her weapons.’
Officers were called about 12:30 p.m., Saturday, February 7, to the area of Grants Pass Parkway and M Street after multiple 911 callers reported a woman, since identified as Alicia Shelton, 43, of Grants Pass, standing in the roadway and firing handguns. Investigators said responding officers gave repeated verbal commands for the woman to drop the weapon, but those commands were ignored according to the Grants Pass Police Department and Oregon State Police.

Police then fired their department-issued weapons, hitting the woman. Shelton was taken to Three Rivers Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at the hospital. No other injuries were reported. Authorities did not say how many bullets she was struck by.
Mental health woes and turmoil of Grants Pass woman
Following the shooting, numerous social media posts from Shelton surfaced hinting at mental health struggles. The Josephine County District Attorney’s Office is expected to release further information as the investigation continues.
A regard of Alicia Shelton’s Facebook page, revealed the following post just hours before the fatal roadway encounter, ‘Ruin my life with your lies and f**king do what you’ve done to me game on !!!!!’
Wrote Shelton in another post (in part) just 22 hours earlier, ‘I have nothing anymore lost my home cause of this all the harassment had to put my 30 days in to find out it was my family doing this and those people at the apartments helped them !!! The Josephine County Major Crimes Team has been activated, with the Oregon State Police leading the investigation. The Oregon State Police Crime Lab responded to process the scene. The investigation remains ongoing, KATU reported.
The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, as is standard protocol, officials said.
