Adrienne Reid, Enterprise, Alabama mom arrested for false reporting in the disappearance of her toddler daughter, Genesis Reid amid inconsistencies in mom’s story as investigators have yet to locate 2-year-old child.
Where is she? Is she still alive? When did she actually go missing? The mother of a missing Enterprise, Alabama 2-year-old toddler girl has been arrested after investigators alleging the parent made a false report about her daughter’s disappearance.
Genesis Reid was reported missing at 3:10 a.m. Feb. 16, when her mother, Adrienne Reid, told police the toddler had walked out the front door of their apartment on Apache Drive, according to the Enterprise Police Department.
An initial search of the area turned up no leads. As the investigation continued, detectives identified inconsistencies in the mother’s account and became concerned that the report that Genesis left the apartment early Monday was false.
When exactly did 2-year-old Enterprise, Alabama girl go missing versus when mom reported her disappearance?
Police said they do not have a confirmed date when Genesis was last seen, but have verified at least one sighting within the past 30 days, WVTM13 reported.
Not immediately clear is when the toddler girl went missing and the amount of time that had passed before the girl’s mother reached out to authorities about her daughter’s disappearance.
Through their continued investigation, police developed enough probable cause to arrest the missing girl’s mother on a charge of making a false report to law enforcement alleging imminent danger, a Class C felony under Alabama law.
Who is Moriah and what is her involvement in Enterprise toddler’s disappearance?
Adrienne Reid had not yet been granted bond as of 4 p.m. Tuesday. Police said they planned to ask a judge to set a bond higher than the standard amount for a Class C felony, citing the status of the investigation and additional facts uncovered, though they declined to provide details.
Authorities declined to address online speculation that the mother was directly responsible for her daughter’s disappearance along with the girl having met with foul play.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals Service, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and multiple other agencies are assisting in the ongoing investigation. The child’s father, grandmother and other relatives have been cooperative, officials said.
Investigators also identified a woman named Moriah as a person of interest, though not a suspect. Police said they are seeking to speak with her and asked anyone who knows her to come forward. However, police stressed that Moriah’s name emerged from information provided by Adrienne and that detectives are working to verify details independently.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Enterprise Police Department at 334-347-2222.
