Tommy Lee Jones daughter, Victoria Jones suspected ‘fentanyl’ drug overdose death and prior arrests linked to substance abuse and domestic violence amid troubled upbringing.
The ‘troubled’ daughter of Hollywood icon, Tommy Lee Jones, 79, was in the grips of drug addiction leading up to her presumed drug overdose death along with having been arrested twice over the summer before being found at a San Francisco hotel early New Year’s Day.
Victoria Jones, 34, who was found dead in San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel in the early hours of New Year’s Day, of a suspected drug overdose was arrested twice in 2025.
Her first arrest came in April last year, in Napa Valley, while driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. Less than two months later, in June 2025, Jones was arrested on domestic violence charges following an incident at the Carneros Resort and Spa, just off the Sonoma Highway in Napa, the dailymail reported.
Former child star suspected drug overdose death
At the time of her discovery on Friday, circa 2.52 a.m, January 1, the former child actress who appeared in some of the films had directed, Jones was seen lying on the ground of the 14th floor of the Fairmont hotel after a guest who thought she might be drunk alerted hotel staff. Despite attempts to revive her, it was soon established Jones was already deceased.
In a dispatch audio, obtained by TMZ, a call for the incident came in as a ‘code 3 for the overdose, color change.’
An overdose with a ‘color change’ usually refers to cyanosis, which is a ‘discoloration of the skin, lips or fingernails caused by a lack of oxygen in the blood,’ according to the Cleveland Clinic.
According to the San Fransisco Police Department, there was no sign of foul play. Drug paraphernalia was not found at the scene and there’s no indication that the 34 year old’s death was a suicide. An official cause of death had yet to be released.
Not immediately clear is if Jones was a guest at the hotel or how she got to the 14th floor. Or who she may have been with prior to her suspected drug overdose death.
Former child actress tried to live up to father’s legacy
Victoria initially followed in her dad’s acting footsteps when she appeared in ‘Men In Black II,’ ‘One Tree Hill’ and in 2005, ‘The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,’ which was directed by her dad. It would be the last time the child actress would work as an actress.
Tommy Lee Jones — who shared Victoria with Kimberlea Cloughley — told the New Yorker in 2006 that Victoria is ‘a good actress, has her sag card, speaks impeccable Spanish.’
‘When she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nurse, to speak to her in Spanish,’ he further said.
Though she has since stepped away from acting, she sometimes supported her father on red carpets.
But clues as to a troubled upbringing came when the movie icon also told of firing his daughter.
‘She had to get up at 5am for her part. One morning, she wouldn’t get out of bed. I said: ‘Honey, this is work.’ But she wouldn’t budge,’ he told the New Yorker.
‘So I fired her. Then, without telling me, the production staff went over and woke her and rushed her out to the set just in time,’ he recalled.

Troubled run ins with police & suspected fentanyl overdose
Along with her arrests in 2025, Jones had other arrests over the years.
In 2011, Victoria Jones was arrested for theft in the amount of $50 to $500. The charge was later dismissed, the nypost reported.
A San Francisco police officer who had dealings with Victoria told The Post she struggled with substance abuse issues and suspected her death was ‘fentanyl-related.’
‘People get all their drugs with fentanyl now. They [drug dealers] have it on everything they measure with, [so] everything gets laced,’ the officer told the outlet.
The un-named officer told the nypost that Victoria appeared to be high on drugs during run-ins with law enforcement while she was living in the city’s North Beach neighborhood, a senior San Francisco police officer who has dealt with her in the past said.
Victoria is now survived by Jones, Cloughley and her brother, Austin, 43. The family has to date not publicly commented on the 34-year-old’s sudden death.
Tomnmy Lee has not spoken publicly about his daughter’s arrests or troubles nor commented on Victoria’s death.
