Jacob L. Streat, Nampa, Idaho man arrested in fatal road rage shooting of 27-year-old motorist in Meridian during ‘traffic dispute.’ 

An Idaho man has been arrested and charged with second degree murder in a suspected road rage shooting of another motorist in Meridian, Sunday afternoon.

Jacob L. Streat, 23, of Nampa is accused of shooting and killing a 27-year-old man in a parking lot near a McDonald’s at 195 E. Central Drive, Meridian police said.

The incident unfolded around 12:30 p.m. when multiple 911 callers reported gunfire near the restaurant off the Meridian exit of Interstate 84, according to the Meridian Police Department. Witnesses told investigators that Streat and the victim confronted each other following what authorities believe was a road rage ‘traffic’ dispute involving a silver 2023 Toyota Tacoma and a blue 2009 Honda Accord traveling eastbound from Nampa.

Traffic dispute leads to Nampa, Idaho man firing dozen rounds towards fellow motorist​

Officers arrived to find the unarmed victim dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Streat had fired more than a dozen rounds and remained at the scene according to an arrest report cited by the Idaho Press.

Streat was scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday where he faced a felony second-degree murder charge the outlet reported. 

Cops described the shooting as an ‘isolated incident’ with no ongoing public threat. The victim’s identity awaits release by the Ada County coroner.

Bond set at $2M following second degree felony murder charge

Following Monday’s arraignment, bond was set at $2 million. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 9.

Investigators continue to review surrounding surveillance video along with questioning witnesses at the scene.
