Life of ‘Queen of Dallas’ remembered and celebrated

According to officials, the driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. The incident remains under active investigation.

A witness, who began recording after the SUV came to a stop, said he saw Knox tripping into the street and then being struck. A visible trail of blood extended along the road where the vehicle had traveled, WFAA reported.

Loved ones called Knox the ‘Queen of Dallas’ and said family was everything to her. She worked at a medical clinic and dreamt of becoming a nurse. Her aunt, Nakia Clay, said the loss has been ‘traumatic’ and ‘surreal,’ and that the family still hasn’t been able to process what happened.

‘Family meant everything to Aya,’ Clay said. ‘So it was really important for us to show this to the world, to show the young lady that she was and how loved she was by all of us.’

Authorities continue to investigate tragedy

According to her Facebook account, Aya Knox was a native of Dallas, Texas and an alumnus of Garland based Lakeview Centennial High School.
