The mother of a Florida cheerleader found strangled to death onboard a Carnival Cruise earlier this month is blaming her ex, the father of the victim for the teen girl’s death.
Heather Wright, the estranged mother of Anna Kepner spoke out after authorities formally ruled the girl’s death a homicide.
The comments come as Wright has been criticized for the many years the biological mother was estranged from her daughter’s life after splitting from Christopher Kepner, 41, along with struggling with substance abuse.

Wright told Fox News that she wasn’t coping with news of her 18-year-old daughter’s murder— as she now condemns the teen’s father for apparently painting her as a villain along with the dad’s decision to place Anna with her step brother who is now a suspect in the same cabin where she was found dead.
‘Why am I the bad guy?’ Wright told the outlet. ‘He put them in the same room together.’
Previous reports told of the step brother being fixated on his older step sister and wanting to date her, assertions that Anna’s dad had previously been warned of by Anna’s ex boyfriend.
Authorities have released few details about the girl’s Nov. 6 death after her body was found stashed under a bed in the cabin she was sharing with her 16-year-old stepbrother, identified by social media as Timothy ‘Tim’ Hudson and her 14 year old biological brother.
While no arrests have been made in the case, federal investigators have eyed the 16 year old stepbrother as a suspect.

Anna Kepner of Titusville, Florida, had been on the ‘dream’ Caribbean getaway with her blended family, including her grandparents, father, stepmother, Shauntel Hudson, 36, siblings and stepsiblings — when she died.
Wright, who separated from her ex, Chris Kepner, when her daughter was just a child, also went on to criticize the the dad for keeping news of Ann’s death from her.
The biological mom claimed, too, that her ex initially left her out of Kepner’s online obituary and banned her from attending the memorial service — forcing her to go in secret.
‘They said I never went, but I did,’ said Wright, who lives in Oklahoma.
‘I didn’t want to be seen, so I made sure no one seen me — plus they can’t stop me from going anyway, even though Chris said he would have me arrested for back child support.’
Wright who insisted she had tried to stay in touch with her daughter over the years but claimed she was prevented from doing so.
‘She was my daughter, and I loved her with all of my heart and soul,’ the mom said.
‘The song ‘I Am Not Okay’ by Jelly Roll is exactly how I feel.’
