Dana Leigh Mustian missing North Carolina woman’s body found by dive team in Vance County as authorities decline to say if her death is a murder investigation.
The remains of a North Carolina mom who failed to turn up to her 6 year old daughter’s birthday party more than a year ago have been found by dive teams in Vance County.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office, which led the search for Dana Leigh Mustian, in a Facebook release said that the state medical examiner’s office positively identified discovered human remains as that of the missing woman.
Mustian, 33, was last seen at her Warrensburg home on November 30, 2023, when her father dropped her off at her home, only to be reported missing on December 4 after failing to turn up at her 6-year-old daughter’s birthday party that weekend.
Victim of foul play?
The investigation into her disappearance and death will continue, the sheriff’s office said.
‘We would like to thank Sheriff Curtis Brame and the Vance County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance,’ the sheriff’s office added, without providing further information.
Authorities said the 33-year-old at the time of her disappearance having blue eyes, blonde hair, multiple piercings on her on her arm, ribcage, and back, several tattoos, including the name “Cheyenne” on her left arm with the dates “4-1-15” and “6-22-15.”
Dana was said to weigh approximately 140 pounds. Additionally, she has piercings on her ears, tongue, and navel.
‘It’s like she just disappeared from the face of the Earth,’ sister-in-law Megan Mustian told NewsNation at the time of her disappearance.
‘She was the life of the party. She knew everybody, everybody knew her,’ Megan told WNCN months later in January.

‘We’ve tried ground searches, ponds, woods, anywhere we could think of,’ Megan added. ‘People in the community have just rallied and we didn’t realize how loved and how many people knew her.’
At the time of Dana’s abrupt disappearance, police were unable to locate the missing woman’s purse or cell phone.
Not immediately clear is whether foul play is suspected?
