A Toledo, Ohio woman is accused of leaving her two young children in a ‘freezing’ car at a casino parking lot while she went inside to gamble.
Shaneja Gamble, 22, was busted after her two kids were found in the vehicle on the third floor of the Hollywood Casino Toledo parking lot, according to police.
Officers say the temperature at the time was 26 Fahrenheit degrees ( minus 3 celsius).
Cops say the children were found after casino security alerted an off-duty officer. Of note, the car wasn’t running (aka generating warmth) nor was the vehicle locked, WTVG reported.
Gamble was arrested shortly after 1:30 Sunday afternoon and booked into the Lucas County Corrections on child endangerment.
There were no reported injuries or ailments to the children. The ages of the children were not provided.
On Monday, January 6, Gamble appeared for her arraignment and was released on her own recognizance, according to court records. She pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of endangering children and creating a substantial risk to their health or safety. Her next court date did not appear on court records.
