Kalina Marie wedding reception disaster as only 5 out of 75 invited guests bother showing up leaving newly married couple dumbfounded and asking what went wrong in viral TikTok video.

A newly married bride has shared her heartbreak after discovering that only 5 out of 75 invited wedding guests arrived at her nuptials last week, leaving her and her groom dumbfounded, as to what could have possibly gone wrong?

In a now viral TikTok, Kalina Marie, and her husband, Shane and their son can be seen walking into an empty venue where their masquerade ball-themed reception which had been ten months in the planning was being held.

Only three people could be seen in the venue, a far cry from the expected turnout.

@kalina_marie_23 This is our entrance to our Masqurade ball. The Masqurade ball that I have talked EXCESSIVELY about for the last 10 months. The same ball that I not only digitally invited over 75 people to. But ALSO spent money to send 25 beautiful invitations out to. FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me!?!? As you see in the video, we enter the venue. And no one is there. The invite said 1pm. My mom messaged me at 1:15 that no one was there. My husband and I finally showed up at 2oclock, to 5 people. In a venue planned for 40. I dreamed that I would walk in to a bunch of people cheering us on. Hooting and hollering for us in celebration……but all you see is a woman trying to hold herself together because she had NO idea how to deal with her venue being almost completely empty. All the wasted food and drinks. All the empty tables and chairs. Every moment of my reception changed to adapt. Did we still make the most of it?? You bet your SWEET @$$ we did. But did this video just take all the good moments and shoot them out of the water for a second, F$&K yea it did 😔 It just makes me think, like, why? What did we do? Am I that bad of a person? What did my husband ever do to deserve any of this? Why couldn’t we matter enough for people to show up? I still have “friends” that haven’t even messaged me to congratulate me or tell me why they didn’t come. It truly makes me sick. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this yet. But all I know is, I have my man. My baby. And family that shows up when I need them. And for that, I will be thankful ❤️ #FAIL #fyp #whereisthelove ♬ original sound – Sara Lones

‘FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me!?!?

Kalina who originally hails from Oregon explained that after nine years together and being engaged for four of those years, the couple’s wedding had been delayed by the pandemic.

However, in January this year, Kalina and Shane finally set a date for October and started sending out invites to their masquerade themed wedding. Surely it would be a bash to a remember ….?

‘The Masquerade ball that I have talked excessively about for the last 10 months. The same ball that I not only digitally invited over 75 people to. But also spent money to send 25 beautiful invitations out to,’ Kalina explains in the now viral video which has garnered over 7.8 million views.

Kalina said she ‘dreamt’ that she would walk into a bunch of people ‘hooting and hollering’ for them.

In the end, Kalina said that she received 40 RSVPs, meaning that she expected that many people at her ceremony – but it wasn’t to be, with only just five wedding guests making the bash…

Voicing her frustration in the video, Kalina wrote: ‘FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me!?!? As you see in the video, we enter the venue. And no one is there.’

What went wrong?

The newly married couple even delayed the event by an hour in the hope of late arrivals, sadly none turned up.

Contemplated Kalina, ‘It just makes me think, like, why? What did we do? Am I that bad of a person?

‘What did my husband ever do to deserve any of this? Why couldn’t we matter enough for people to show up?

‘I still have ‘friends’ that haven’t even messaged me to congratulate me or tell me why they didn’t come.

‘It truly makes me sick. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this.’

Not to be defeated (the human spirit is after all resilient) Kalina finished off saying: ‘Did we still make the most of it?? You bet your SWEET a** we did…

‘But all I know is, I have my man. My baby. And family that shows up when I need them. And for that, I will be thankful.’

But the question remained, why had no one turned up?

Kalina eventually made a full response video following commentators wanting to know ‘what went wrong’ with the newly married bride discussing the process of having gone through with invitations, creating a Facebook event, along with revealing that her mother made food for 40 people, that ended up going to waste.

‘I checked in with everyone the week of, and at least 20 people had gotten back to me saying that they had an outfit and that they were coming,’ Kalina relented.

Adding: ‘And the biggest question is why? And I don’t know if I could answer that.

‘I would tell you, but no, I haven’t really received a lot of messages explaining why people weren’t there or giving me excuses. And I’m kind of thankful for that,’

Adding, ‘we’re still a little embarrassed and still moving through the stages of grief,’ as well as ‘still dealing with anger.’

‘I wouldn’t even wish this on my worst enemy,’ she said.

Concluding, the newly-wed said: ‘For the most part, we’ve done a lot of deleting and re-evaluating our lives and just spending a lot of time appreciating what We have and what we had.’

Fellow TikTok users have since urged the newly married couple to ‘redo’ the event so they can attend…
