Rodney Andersen, Annandale, Minnesota man charged with stabbing murder of wife of 66 years, Janet Louise Andersen. 85 year old husband told detective he ‘lost his head.’
An 85 year old Minnesota man who claimed having ‘lost his head’ when he allegedly stabbed his wife of 66 years to death has been arrested.
Rodney Allen Andersen, 85, was arrested and charged Thursday, September 12th in the ‘kitchen knife’ attack against his wife, Janet Louise Andersen, 83, at their Annandale home.
Police found the woman lying on her back in the kitchen, ‘heavily bleeding’ and ‘oozing’ blood from multiple stab wounds to her abdomen, court documents stated.
‘I guess I lost my head,’ Andersen told Annandale police who responded to the bloody scene, WBNG reported.
Andersen said he and his wife of 66 years had a ‘big argument’ early Thursday morning and admitted to cops that he stabbed her but was not sure if she was still alive.
The husband had called the authorities at 9:54 a.m. and waited outside his front door for them to arrive, according to the court docs.
Responding officers saw Andersen on the steps of his Knollwood Street West home shaking with his hands on his head. They then discovered a bloody knife in the kitchen sink.
Andersen told police that the pair, who had been married since 1958, ‘continuously argue’ and that he ‘guessed’ he grabbed the weapon from the butcher block in the kitchen just before stabbing her.
The husband confessed to stabbing his wife at least once in the ‘middle’ somewhere, according to the complaint, but didn’t know what kind of force he used.
His wife’s body was still warm when paramedics arrived but was pronounced dead at the scene.
Andersen was charged with second-degree murder and faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted, court document show. He is currently being held on $1 million bail at Wright County Jail according to the Wright County Attorney’s Office.
The 85 year old is next scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
