Kaitlynn Lee, New Albany, Indiana mom of three shot dead by Joshua K Thomson in domestic violence situation turned deadly. Victim had previously been involved with shooter.
An Indiana mother of three was shot and killed at a New Albany apartment over the weekend in what cops described to be a case of domestic violence turned deadly.
Kaitlynn Lee of New Albany was found deceased at her residence early Saturday morning following reports of a shooting at 5 a.m.
Despite efforts to save her life, Lee, 25, was pronounced dead after taken to a local hospital.
Victim had sought to ‘get away’ from previous boyfriend
Arrested in the woman’s death was 25 year old New Albany, Indiana man, Joshua K Thompson who has since been charged with murder. The man is understood to have had a previous relationship with the victim, the extent of which was not immediately clear.
A neighbor speaking to WDRB said that the young mom of three had moved in with a friend to get away from Thompson, whom she previously had a toxic relationship with.
It remained unclear if the man had fathered any of Lee’s three young children.
Responding to the fatal shooting, Mikayla Hodges, a childhood friend of the victim related, ‘she was very outgoing.’
Adding, ‘She was a cheerleader, so she was upbeat and happy, always wanted to go out and do stuff, hang out with people. She was very sweet.’
Lee would grow from high school cheerleader to a mom who deeply loved her three children, Lee’s family stated.
Read a statement from Lee’s family: ‘She’s suffered enough loss and heartbreak in her life and did not deserve any of this. Her babies don’t deserve this.’
Lee’s family has created a GoFundMe to cover the cost of her funeral and support her children. As of early Monday morning, the fundraiser had raised $5,760.
Police continue to investigate.
