Gambling in Wisconsin: most popular casino venues to enjoy during your visit along with other entertainment pursuits.

There’s a saying that if you are going to do something, you may as well do it in style. Well with Christmas and New Year rapidly looming, nobody does winter quite like Wisconsin. The Wisconsin landscape is like nothing else after the first snowfalls, but it is worth remembering that the state also has some fabulous – and warm – casinos where you can spend your evenings.

Gambling in Wisconsin

At first glance, the Badger State appears to have relatively strict rules on gambling. This is true in as much as it has not taken the same steps towards legalization of sports betting as some of its neighboring states. However, while it is not legal to operate a gambling betting site or casino outside reservation land, there are no laws that prohibit the use of WI legit online casinos that are based out of state or overseas. Several such US online casinos are geared towards Wisconsin players.

There are also more than 20 tribal casinos in Wisconsin that are legal to visit as long as you are over 21. Let’s look at some of the most popular in a little more detail.

Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, Milwaukee

Wisconsin’s best-known casino is located on Canal Street in downtown Milwaukee. It first opened its doors in 1991, and has undergone several expansions since. Today, the hotel has 500 rooms, and the gaming floor contains more than 3,000 machines and 100 gaming tables. These offer roulette, craps, baccarat, blackjack and various forms of poker. There is also a 2,500-capacity bingo hall.

Ho-Chunk Gaming, Wisconsin Dells

For a little slice of Las Vegas in the heart of Wisconsin, look no further than Ho-Chunk Gaming in Wisconsin Dells. The casino is open 24/7 and you’ll find blackjack, poker, roulette, craps and baccarat as well as all your favorite slots. When you need a break from the gaming, this resort has 300 rooms and suites, a luxury spa and a choice of five different eateries to suit all tastes and budgets.

Oneida Casino, Green Bay

One for the cheeseheads, the Oneida Casino bills itself as the official casino of the Green Bay Packers and is located at the Radisson Hotel, right beside the airport and a 10 minute drive from Lambeau Field. The casino boasts more than 2,000 slot machines as well as nine different table games plus poker, bingo and off-track betting.

North Star Mohican Casino, Bowler

This resort location is as famous for its spa, golf course and concert venue as it is for its casino. As well as 1,000+ slots and all the usual table games, the casino offers Let it Ride, a variation on poker that everyone can enjoy.

Menominee Casino Resort, Shawano

This friendly casino is situated just outside the town of Shawano in the Menominee Reservation. It is smaller than the other casinos we have mentioned, but that just gives it a sense of exclusivity. Visitors soon feel like part of the family, and there is a good choice of slot games, plus three blackjack tables and a poker table. Note that the gaming tables are closed Monday to Wednesday, but slots are available 24/7.
