A Milwaukee father of five has been accused of murder after flying into a rage and fatally punching his five year old son after the boy ate his Father’s Day cheesecake, prosecutors allege.

Upon his arrest, Travis Stackhouse, 29 was charged with on count of first degree reckless homicide.

Cops responded to the scene near 26th Street and Ruby Avenue after receiving a report of an injured person individual in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 22.

According to the criminal complaint, a five-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say that the boy suffered bruises around both eyes, a cut to his lip, and a laceration to his sternum, WITI-TV reported.

Investigators also said he had three healing cuts to his back.

The boy’s caretakers told police that he fell down the stairs, but investigators did not believe the explanation.

An autopsy revealed that the boy suffered blunt force trauma to his stomach the Milwaukee Sentinel Journal reported.

Milwaukee father of five. A history of ongoing child abuse?

During questioning, Stackhouse said he lived in the home with his girlfriend and their five children.

He told investigators that since his girlfriend worked, he was the main caretaker for the children.

Stackhouse said that he was at home with the children this past Friday.

He said his girlfriend returned from work at around noon and then left again at around 3pm.

According to Stackhouse, the five-year-old boy and another child were playing Nerf basketball upstairs.

Stackhouse told police that the boy was ‘somersaulting down the stairwell.’

He said that the boy looked okay and that there were no noticeable signs of injury.

Shortly afterward, the boy said he wasn’t feeling well and started to vomit, according to the police complaint.

Authorities say that after his girlfriend came home, she, Stackhouse, and some of the other children were outside.

Stackhouse then went back inside the home and found the five-year-old boy and two other kids eating a cake that he had received for Father’s Day.

Stackhouse told police that he was angry, saying he had only eaten one piece. The father during questioning initially denied hitting the boy.

He said that his girlfriend fell asleep on the couch. Soon after, Stackhouse went out with friends.

When Stackhouse returned home, his girlfriend told him there was something wrong with the five-year-old. She then called 911.

The boy’s older brother said Stackhouse hit the five-year-old boy in the stomach and back.

The brother also denied that his younger brother fell down the stairs, as his father had claimed.

After police interviewed Stackhouse a second time, the father admitted punching the boy in the stomach and hitting him in the face because he was angry about the cake.

Stackhouse claimed that the boy fell down the stairs later in the day.

He told investigators that his girlfriend warned him ‘not to hit the children so hard.’

Stackhouse remains held on $25,000 bond, according to the Milwaukee County Jail website. He faces up to 60 years in prison, if convicted.
