A calf born with two heads, two snouts, four eyes but only one brain is expected to survive tell local Vermont vets.
The calf one of eight born this past Tuesday on a local Vermont farm was supposed to be a twin but the egg did not separate properly.
Nevertheless the calf has since gone on to be hailed as a blessing after being born with two heads and managing to survive.
Offered farmer, Kirsten Quesnel via WPTZ: ‘It just was something different for us today,’
‘Just like with humans we have some abnormalities with animals and animal births and this just happened to be one of them.’
Perhaps what makes the abnormality that more intriguing is the fact that as a result of only having one brain, each head mimics the other.
So when the calf is feeding on one side, rest assured it is doing so on the other side too.
Goes on to reflect Quesnel: ‘Call it a miracle or call it unique, call it what you will, we’re just blessed with this and we’ll see where it goes from here,’
‘We had the vet take a look at her earlier today to check all of her signs and she seems to be doing very well.’
Interestingly the UK’s dailymail goes on to note that in many cases, calves with deformities such as the one the calf has endured don’t survive after being born.
As of yet the calf is bereft of a name. Perhaps ‘Double Header‘ might be a well deserving name for this miracle calf….or how about ‘Holy Cow!’
