Gone may be the days of terms like ‘weapons of mass destruction’ (only really useful when inciting support for an invasion), but after an odd response given by one customs official who was being interviewed live on air, speculations have been abound as to whether any intelligence agencies have found the much softer sounding ‘weapons of mass effect’ inside the US.
Daily Mail: In the interview screened by San Diego’s 10News, Al Hallor, assistant San Diego port director, said ‘weapons of mass effect’ had been found, although he did not specify exactly where or what they were.
Asked reporter Mitch Blacher: ‘Do you ever find things that are dangerous like a chemical agent or a weaponised device?’
‘At the airport, seaport, at our port of entry we have not this past fiscal year, but our partner agencies have found those things,’ said Hallor before being interrupted by a PR official.
But no worries, Hallor was “’just nervous’ in the interview and ‘mis-spoke’” according to officials from the Department of Homeland Security. And who can blame him? We all know nothing is more horrifying than a confrontation with that particular type of vermin that makes a living reporting for television.
